Contactor closed

Alarm Description:
Main contactor permantely closed

When the vehicle is keyed on, the controller attempts to drain the capacitor bank.  If the capacitor bank cannot be drained, it is determined that the Main Contactor has closed prematurely, thus giving constant battery supply to the capacitor bank.  This can be caused by the following:

  1. 1. Main Contactor is permantely closed
  2. 2. If a precharge resistance has been placed across the Main Contactor, check to ensure that the value is not too low.  You can verify this be removing the precharge resistance and verify whether or not the alarm still exists.  If the alarm is now cleared, then you must increase the precharge resistance through trial-and-error.
